Customs makes record counterfeit seizure
*
Customs & Excise Department

Customs officers have made Hong Kong's largest seizure of counterfeit mobile phone accessories after shutting down a syndicate in a five-day operation.

Officers mounted the operation on February 28 raiding three trading companies, three warehouses and a packaging centre in Kwun Tong, seizing $8 million worth of fake goods including mobile-phone batteries, hands-free headsets and chargers.

They arrested six men and four women aged 27 to 46. Three were company directors.

The syndicate attempted to sell the items as parallel-imported or stocked-up goods cheaper than genuine goods.
