415 tickets issued in traffic blitz

A total of 415 fixed-penalty tickets and 10 summonses where issued to road users violating traffic regulations during a two-day traffic blitz on Hong Kong Island.

 

The crackdown ended at 7pm. Of the fixed-penalty tickets issued, 292 were for illegal parking and 123 for other traffic offences. 

 

Police officers also gave verbal warning to 19 pedestrians and 217 drivers for minor traffic offences.

 

There were 2,665 traffic accidents involving casualties on Hong Kong Island from January to October, and 53.9% were attributed to pedestrians' negligence.
