Customs officers have seized 720,000 dutiable cigarettes worth $1.1 million and with a potential duty value of $580,000 from a container truck at Sha Tau Kok checkpoint. The 55-year-old male driver was arrested.

Officers stopped the arriving truck about 11am yesterday and seized 60 cartons of dutiable cigarettes from the container.

The driver was charged with importing unmanifested cargo and dealing with dutiable goods.
