Good Citizen Awards

Crime fighters: Assistant Commissioner of Police Tang Hau-sing, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce's Sylvia Chung, and Fight Crime Committee member Dr Tse Wing-ling officiate at the Good Citizen Awards presentation ceremony.

*

Thirty-five men and five women have been given Good Citizen Awards for helping Police nab 40 criminals for wounding, robbery, theft, burglary, indecent assault, criminal damage, false accounting and deception. Each winner received a certificate and a $2,000-cheque.

Commending their courage and vigilance at a presentation ceremony today, Assistant Commissioner of Police Tang Hau-sing said the award is a good example of citizens co-operating with Police to fight crime. It also shows that a benevolent spirit facilitates the harmonious development of society.

A new television announcement reminding people to safeguard their belongings was premiered today to kick off the Fight Crime Publicity Campaign 2007-08. It and its sister radio announcement will start broadcasting tonight.
