HK, Mainland sign customs pact
*

Hong Kong and Mainland customs departments have signed a pact to strengthen co-operation and enhance efficiency in customs clearance at the new Shenzhen Bay Port control point.

The arrangements will take effect after the port starts operation on July 1.

Both parties will establish a customs clearance co-ordination centre and an anti-smuggling co-ordination centre for on-site operations and intelligence exchange.

They will mutually recognise the Customs Green Seals applied to inspected vehicles to minimise double examination and will exchange X-ray images. They will also exchange information on passenger and vehicle flow.
