Police and their Mainland counterparts will continue to strengthen the exchange of criminal intelligence and co-operation in the investigation of money laundering activities, Commissioner of Police Dick Lee says.
Mr Lee led an eight-member delegation to meet representatives from the Ministry of Public Security in Beijing, the Shanghai Public Security Bureau and the Guangdong Public Security Department.
The discussion covered cross-boundary crime, drug trafficking, triads, smuggling, illegal gambling, commercial and technology crime, and illegal immigration.
The progress and effectiveness of co-operation between both sides over the past year was also reviewed. Mr Lee said the Police College, the Chinese People's Public Security University, and the Guangdong Police Officers' College will further bolster their student exchange programme.
"In addition, we will exchange our police instructors and lecturers to provide further assistance in the training of both sides. We also agreed to arrange special training on the use of firearms as well as negotiation skills," Mr Lee said.
