Man charged in fatal rubbish-truck mishap

*
Hong Kong Police

The 46-year-old driver of a rubbish truck has been charged for dangerous driving causing death and other offences after he knocked down and killed a woman in Mong Kok yesterday morning.

At about 7:10am, the driver was reversing the truck along Soy Street and turned right into Tak Cheong Street. The truck reportedly hit the 50-year-old woman outside 90 Tak Cheong Street. She was certified dead on the spot.

The driver was also charged with driving while disqualified, driving a motor vehicle without third-party insurance and using a vehicle not in a good and serviceable condition.

He will appear in Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts tomorrow.
