6 arrested for cash-planting scam
*
Hong Kong Police

Six people have been arrested in connection with a pyramid selling scheme.

Police arrested the two men and four women, aged 42 to 57, after raiding a company on Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui yesterday, suspected to be involved in fraudulent cash-planting.

Initial investigations found that people were induced to participate in various cash-planting schemes. One allegedly allowed members to get a $9,900 return a year after an investment of $2,940. Other schemes allegedly offered a lucrative referral bonus if members could recruit more people to invest with the company.

The total amount involved in these cash-planting schemes is still under investigation, and the six are being detained for enquiries.

Anyone who has fallen victim to the cash-planting scheme, or who has information to offer, should contact Police on 2860 5012.
