The first batch of 10 probationary inspectors and 179 recruit constables trained under the new 27-week Recruit Police Constables Foundation Training have completed their course.
The course is vocational-oriented, with training in laws, police procedures and use of force to ensure recruits are better prepared for more effective policing.
To enhance the Police officers' personal effectiveness, the Force provides new elements - including "Psychology in Policing" and "Social Studies in Policing" - in collaboration with the Open University of Hong Kong.
Upon successful completion of the programme, the university awards the trainees a "Certificate in Law Enforcement &Security Management".
The arrangment's objective is to help promote lifelong learning among Force members for continuous improvement at personal and organisational levels. It is hoped that the training initiatives would contribute to maintaining the Force's status as one of the best in the world.
