1,837 arrested in anti-triad raids

Police have arrested 1,837 people in an organised crime blitz.

 

Conducted between November 1 and 12, raids were conducted in support of an operation across Hong Kong, Guangdong and Macau.

 

Officers raided more than 2,000 locations in Hong Kong, including discos, game centres, massage parlours and residential units, shutting down 17 vice establishments, 13 gambling dens and a drug den, arresting 899 men and 938 women.

 

They seized 290g of heroin, 1,077 ecstasy tablets, 56g of ice, 594 pieces of triazolam, 68g of ketamine, 211kg of cannabis, 30g of cocaine, and 36 weapons.

 

About $103,000 worth of betting slips for illegal gambling, 130,202 obscene or pirated discs, 30,305 litres of illicit oil, 1,324,828 cigarettes and 4,629 fake goods were also seized.
