3 arrested for selling counterfeit goods online
*
Customs & Excise Department

Customs officers have closed a syndicate and arrested two men and a woman suspected to have sold counterfeit goods on the Internet to buyers in the US and Canada.

They seized  220 counterfeit goods, including shoes, sunglasses and jeans worth about $100,000. The syndicate used an auction site and hosted a company website to attract customer orders.

They ordered counterfeit goods from Guangdong and posted them from Hong Kong to overseas customers.

On November 22, Customs officers arrested two men, aged 24 and 31, at a post office in Kwai Chung. The 24-year-old was believed to be the syndicate mastermind while the other was suspected to have posted 31 parcels to the US and Canada between November 21 and 22.

A 39-year-old woman was also arrested in a Kwai Chung office.

The case is still under investigation.
