140+ tickets issued in traffic day blitz

Officers issued 140 fixed-penalty tickets and 85 summonses to motorists and pedestrians who violated traffic regulations during the Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day.

 

From 7am to 11pm yesterday,  220 officers from Traffic Kowloon East and District Traffic Teams of Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping and Kwun Tong were sent to enforce regulations at traffic-accident black spots and potential traffic-accident locations in the Kowloon East region.

 

Officers issued another 189 fixed-penalty tickets for illegal parking and other parking offences, and gave verbal warnings to 107 pedestrians and 29 drivers for jaywalking and other minor traffic offences.

 

They also issued leaflets with road-safety messages.

 

There were 1,834 traffic accidents in Kowloon East Region from January to October this year.
