Hong Kong Police

Marine Police have seized smuggled goods worth $2.85 million and arrested two men near Ap Chau.

About 9.30pm yesterday officers spotted an unlit speedboat near the island, which sped off when they tried to intercept it. The boat was then stopped off Starling Inlet and the men jumped overboard and had to be rescued. Cargo including computer parts, walkie-talkie radios and projectors were found on the boat.

The men, aged 31 and 43, could not produce manifest or identity documents and were arrested for trying to export unmanifested cargo and illegal immigration. They have been detained for questioning.
