Illicit cigarette storage centre shut down
*
Customs & Excise Department

Customs officers have shut down an illicit cigarette storage centre in Kwun Tong, arresting two men and seizing 1.7 million cigarettes worth $2.6 million with a duty potential of $1.39 million.

Shortly before 7pm yesterday, officers intercepted the two Mainlanders, aged 33 and 39, moving cigarettes into a unit of a Kwun Tong industrial building.

They have been charged with breaching their conditions of stay and dealing with goods to which Dutiable Commodities Ordinance applies. They will appear in Kwun Tong Magistracy tomorrow.

To report illicit cigarette activities call the Customs hotline 2545 6182.
