Customs have seized a million illicit cigarettes, worth $1.63 million and with duty potential of $820,000, on a wooden vessel off Tung Chung.

Officers today intercepted the vessel, returning from Dongguan, and found the cigarettes packed as environmentally friendly thermal cups.

Four Mainland crew members, three men and a woman aged 26 to 51, were arrested.
