Man jailed for buying passport
*
Immigration Department

An unemployed man has been jailed for aiding and abetting others to transfer a Hong Kong SAR passport and possessing an identity card relating to another person, the Immigration Department says.

Chan Kin-wah, 27, admitted at District Court today to one count of aiding and abetting the transfer to another, without reasonable excuse, a travel document and one count of possession of an identity card relating to another person.

He was sentenced to two years on the first charge and eight months on the second. Four months of the second charge will run concurrently with the first.

His arrest came after immigration investigators followed up on newspaper advertisements seeking passport holders to sell their travel documents for quick cash.
