Man dies in Wan Chai traffic accident

A 69-year-old man was struck by a light goods vehicle in Wan Chai early this morning and later died.

 

At about 7.30 am, a 23-year-old man was backing the vehicle onto Great Gorge Street where it reportedly struck the elderly man as he was crossing the road behind the vehicle.

 

The man was trapped under the vehicle and rescued by firefighters. He was sent to Ruttonjee Hospital and certified dead and 9:35am.

 

The incident occurred near the exit of a carpark in Windsor House. Hong Kong Island's special traffic investigations team is following up.

 

Anyone who saw the accident is urged to contact the investigating officers at 3106 8800.
