A total of 390 fixed penalty tickets and eight summonses have been issued to road users violating traffic regulations during a two-day operation on Hong Kong Island.

Among the tickets, 269 were issued for illegal parking and 121 for other traffic offences. Ninety-seven pedestrians and 289 drivers were cautioned for committing minor traffic offences.

The operation concluded at 7pm today and 140 officers were deployed to enforce regulations at traffic blackspots.

There were 1,504 traffic accidents involving casualties on Hong Kong Island from January to June this year. Of them, 50% were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
