No agent hired to sell govt activities

Leisure & Cultural Services Department

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department said today, in response to a possible fraud case, that it had not engaged any agent to help sell recreational activities or sports training courses on the street.

The case came to light earlier this week when a girl was told by a company during a job interview that it was engaged by the department to sell recreational activities or sports training courses on the street.

The company told the interviewee that if the promoter succeeded in selling a course, he or she would have to ask the client to deposit the course fee into a bank account. The company would then issue a confirmation letter to the client who could take the invoice and the letter to the headquarters of the department for further arrangements.

The department confirmed that it had no such arrangement with the company or with any other companies.

The case has been reported to the Police and so far nobody has approached the department's headquarters with such an invoice.

The department urged job seekers to be on the alert for this suspected fraud and people encountering such promoters on the street should be cautious and report them to the Police.
