*
Hong Kong Police

Police are investigating the death of an 82-year-old man who was found with a gash on his head in a Shau Kei Wan building last night.

Police were called to 239A Shau Ke3i Wan Road at about 6.20pm after hearing a report of a man lying unconscious on the staircase between the ground floor and first floor of the building.

The man, who lived on an upper floor of the building, was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital with a wound above his left ear. He was certified dead at 6.50 pm.

A piece of broken marble with bloodstains was found at the scene.

An autopsy will be conducted today.

Hong Kong Island's Regional Crime Unit is investigating. Ayone with information on the case is urged to call 2859 8500 or 2859 8551.
