Two die in Wong Tai Sin crash
*
Hong Kong Police

A 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman died in a car crash in Wong Tai Sin early this morning.

Around 2.15am, a taxi travelling along Prince Edward Road East towards Kwun Tong crashed with a private car near Rhythm Garden.

The private car then rammed the kerbside barrier on the left side and hit a lamppost, overturning and catching fire.

The male driver and his female passenger in the rear seat were trapped inside the compartment.

Firemen rescued them, but the two were certified dead before arrival at United Christian Hospital.

Two other passengers in the private car, a 35-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, were injured and sent to United Christian Hospital for medical treatment.

The taxi driver also felt unwell after the accident and was sent to hospital.

Investigations by Special Investigation Team of Kowloon East are proceeding.

Anyone who has witnessed the accident or has information to offer is urged to contact investigating officers on 2305 7500 or 2305 7548.
