The Transport Department has signed a contract with PCCW-HKT Telephone for telecommunication services for a closed-circuit television system.

The contract includes providing a digital telecommunication network to send video images captured from 400 cameras citywide to traffic control centres, and leasing telecommunication services for five years.

The works, which began this month, include detailed system design, supply, installation and commissioning of a digital telecommunication network and related civil works. The installation is due for completion in April, 2010.

The department has appointed Ove Arup & Partners (HK) to complete the functional design and to supervise the contract implementation.
