Kwai Shing East interim housing to be cleared
*
Housing Department

A single interim housing block in Kwai Shing East Estate will be cleared in February 2010, the Housing Authority says. Rehousing and associated arrangements will be made for the 197 affected households and the sole commercial tenant.

The majority of households will be offered public rental flats. Households not eligible for public rental housing will be rehoused in other interim flats.

Households with special grounds and justification, including recommendations by the Social Welfare Department, will be considered on their individual merits for rehousing in public rental housing flats.

All affected households will also be granted a domestic removal allowance, ranging from $2,907 for a one-person household to $10,276 for a household of six or more.

One-person and two-person households can opt to receive a singleton or doubleton allowance of $37,330 or $48,310 in lieu of rehousing in a public rental housing flat.

Households eligible for public rental housing will also be accorded Green Form status and priority in the upcoming phases of the sale of surplus Home Ownership Scheme flats.

The only commercial tenant in the block will be offered an ex-gratia allowance and an opportunity to participate in the authority's tender exercise for letting of retail premises.
