More than 92 hectares of land in Cheung Sha Wan has been designated for residential use with 26.8 hectares of open space for recreation, the Town Planning Board says.

In the residential zone, 87.8 hectares will be for high-density private and public housing blocks, with low-to-medium density residential developments occupying 2.7 hectares, including five existing private estates on Tai Po Road and one residential site on Caldecott Road.

About 2.2 hectares of industrial area will be redeveloped, including two sites on Un Chau and Wing Lung Streets, and another two on Yee Kuk and Fat Tseung Streets.

A Tai Po Road site and another at the junction of Tung Chau and Fat Tseung Streets, with an area of 0.6 hectares, will be redeveloped for residential and retail use.

Meanwhile, a commercial area will cover 2.2 hectares, with 39.8 hectares for government, institution or community facilities. About 50.8 hectares involves the green belt mainly covering the wooded foothills to the north of Ching Cheung and Tai Po Roads.

Two areas of 1.1 hectares will fall under the Urban Renewal Authority's development scheme plan area, including blocks on Lai Chi Kok Road, Kweilin Street and Yee Kuk Street, and Hai Tan, Kweilin and Pei Ho Streets.
