Housing upgrade: Secretary for Transport & Housing Eva Cheng inspects the construction schedule for a lift tower linking hilly Sai Wan Estate with Cadogan Street.
*

Secretary for Transport & Housing Eva Cheng toured Wah Fu and Sai Wan Estates today to see the Housing Authority's efforts in sustaining and upgrading the living environment.

Wah Fu Estate is under comprehensive structural investigation and the check will be completed in April.

Sai Wan Estate is being upgraded with energy-saving lamps in corridors, railings in lift lobbies, wall murals for and redecoration of external walls and covered walkways. A lift tower will be built linking the estate with Cadogan Street while a trail will be provided for the elderly.

Ms Cheng also visited a community centre for the aged run by the Aberdeen Kai-fong Association. The centre offers a wide range of services for residents especially the elderly and disadvantaged and their families.
