Driving licence renewals streamlined
*
Transport Department

The Transport Department will simplify its renewal arrangement for full driving licences by implementing passwords from March 10.

Using passwords will cut the requirement of producing a copy of the applicant's identity document or using an e-certificate for authentication.

The password will be included in the renewal notice and application form sent to driving licence holders before the their licences' expire.

The department will also consider the applicants' eligibility to perform commercial driving duties for employment in Hong Kong when processing applications for commercial licences.

The arrangement will have no effect on ID-card holders and non-permanent ID-card holders with no condition of stay.

The department has abolished the credit card limit on its e-services to promote electronic applications.
