Transport boost to handle school resumption

*
Transport Department

Adequate public transport services will be imposed to meet the upsurge expected when schools resume on September 3. The Transport Department's Emergency Transport Co-ordination Centre will closely monitor the traffic situation that day.

Department officers will observe services, updating the co-ordination centre and liaising with transport operators and government agencies.

The department advises students to familiarise themselves with transport routes to school and allow for more travel time on the first school day. Students living on or attending schools on outlying islands should check ferry schedules and vessel capacity beforehand.

Motorists are urged to avoid school areas to prevent congestion. People should check radio and television announcements for the latest transport and traffic situation before leaving home.

For enquiries, call the department's hotline, 2804 2600, or New World First Bus on 2136 8888, CityBus on 2873 0818, Kowloon Motor Bus and Long Win Bus on 2745 4466, New Lantao Bus on 2984 9848, New World First Ferry on 2131 8181, or Hong Kong and Kowloon Ferry on 2815 6063.
