Cross-boundary vehicles invited to use new port

*

Cross-boundary private car quota holders are invited to use the Shenzhen Bay Port when it is commissioned. They can submit their applications to the Transport Department and the Guangdong Public Security Bureau.

Once approved, they can use the Shenzhen Bay Port to cross the boundary. However, they must surrender their quota for other crossings. Those who have approval to use more than one crossing are required to stop using only one of the existing crossings to switch to the Shenzhen Bay Port.

The department and Guangdong authorities have also agreed to introduce a three-month trial period, during which cross-boundary private cars issued with valid closed-road permits for existing crossings can use Shenzhen Bay Port.

Closed-road permit holders for existing crossings can choose to apply to switch to the new crossing permanently now or after the trial period. The applications will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis.

Guangdong authorities have also started accepting applications for new private car quotas for the Shenzhen Bay Port. Eligible people can submit their applications to the Guangdong Public Security Bureau.

Cross-boundary freight companies can also apply for additional crossing endorsement for their vehicles to use the Shenzhen Bay Port. The Department of Foreign Trade & Economic Co-operation of Guangdong Province has started accepting applications. Upon obtaining the required approval documents from Guangdong authorities, the companies should apply for closed road permits from the Transport Department.
