Telcos improve data traffic

*
Office of the Telecommunications Authority

Telecommunications operators are providing as much capacity for data traffic as possible to North America via Europe, Singapore, Australia and China, says the Office of the Telecommunications Authority.

The authority said this would help improve data traffic, including access to overseas websites.

As most businesses and schools will resume operations tomorrow, Internet users visiting overseas websites may have problems with slow response or congestion.

The authority said emails to and from overseas servers, especially those with large files such as images, would take longer than usual to reach their destinations.
