Telecommunications consultation continues
*
Office of the Telecommunications Authority

The public consultation process for fixed-mobile convergence remains ongoing, until a court says otherwise, Office of the Telecommunications Authority says.

The consultation, which started July 14, was scheduled to end on October 14. This was extended for two weeks to today in response to some industry players' requests. Prior to the issue of the consultation paper, the industry was informed of findings of a consultancy study report.

The office, which has been preparing for the consultation with an open mind about the options for regulation and deregulation, regretted that PCCW is seeking a stay of the broad consultation exercise. The office will only decide the way forward after considering the views and interests of all stakeholders.
