Cable-car report, review ordered
*

Secretary for Economic Development & Labour Stephen Ip has ordered the Mass Transit Railway and Skyrail to submit a report on today's cable-car service suspension and conduct a comprehensive review.

Skyrail suspended service for more than four hours this morning due to technical problems, resuming at 2.30pm.

Mr Ip said the Government has expressed concern about the incident to the MTRC and Skyrail. Noting safety is of paramount importance, Skyrail must probe the incident and submit to the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department a report detailing the cause of the problem and solutions, within seven days.

Both companies have also been ordered to do a comprehensive review of the cable car's facilities and operation to ensure safety and smooth operation.
