323-hectare Kai Tak plan released
*

The Town Planning Board has announced the 323-hectare new draft Kai Tak outline zoning plan, which aims to develop the area into a hub of heritage, greenery, sports and tourism. 

 

The plan covers the North Apron Area, South Apron Area and Runway Area of the ex-airport site, Ma Tau Kok waterfront, Kwun Tong waterfront, Cha Kwo Ling waterfront, Kai Tak Approach Channel, To Kwa Wan Typhoon Shelter and Kwun Tong Typhoon Shelter.

 

Six sub-districts will be created within Kai Tak, including Kai Tak City Centre, Sports Hub, Metro Park, Runway Precinct, Tourism and Leisure Hub and South Apron Corner.

 

Three areas spanning 35.5 hectares are zoned as residences while 60.7 hectares will be earmarked for a cruise terminal and its related facilities. The remaining land is planned for commercial, government, and amenity use.
