Central ferry berths to move

*
Transport Department

The Central berthing points of the four ferry services operating from Edinburgh Place outside City Hall will relocate to Central Ferry Piers 7 and 8 from November 12. The Transport Department said the move is part of the Central Reclamation Phase III Project.

Star Ferry's Central-Tsim Sha Tsui berthing point will be relocated to Central Pier No.7, while that for Central-Hung Hom and Harbour Tours, will move to Central Pier No.8 western berth. Hoi You Ferry's Central-Tsim Sha Tsui (East) route will use Central Pier No.8 eastern berth. The ferry services' timetable will remain unchanged.

Meanwhile, the Central termini for bus routes 15C (Central-Garden Road Peak Tram Station) and 629 (Central-Ocean Park) will move from Edinburgh Place to the Central Ferry Piers from their first departures on November 12. The Central terminus for bus route 15 (Central-the Peak) will be changed from Exchange Square Bus Terminus to Central Ferry Pier. Ferry passengers can interchange with about 38 bus routes and 11 green minibus routes serving in the vicinity of the new piers.

To ensure smooth pedestrian and vehicular traffic after the relocation of ferry services, more than 100 directional signs will be modified or erected for road users to and from the new piers. Traffic around the new piers will be under close watch and traffic control measures will be implemented when necessary.
