Ho Chung preservation plan approved
*

The Chief Executive in Council has approved the draft Ho Chung Outline Zoning Plan, with 193.4 hectares or 65% of the land zoned as "Conservation Area" or "Green Belt".

The Town Planning Board said the general planning intention is primarily to demarcate the boundaries of the villages, to provide low-rise and low-density residential development in an orderly pattern, to conserve peripheral hill slopes and the mature woodland of the landscape, to promote agricultural and recreational activities, and phase out undesirable industries.

To reflect existing low-rise, low-density residential developments and to maintain the intensity of future developments within the capacity of the infrastructural constraints, about 3.4 hectares has been zoned "Residential (Group C)".

About 44.8 hectares have been zoned "Village Type Development".
