Shenzhen Western Corridor ready on time

*
Contract signing ceremony

Ready to roll: Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee (back left) and Shenzhen Municipal People's Government Executive Vice-Mayor Liu Yingli (back centre) witness the contract signing ceremony for the Hong Kong passenger terminal building superstructure.

*

Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee says the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Corridor will be completed smoothly by the end of next year.

Attending a contract-signing ceremony in Shenzhen today, Mr Lee thanked the local authorities for their co-operation in taking forward the implementation of co-location of customs and immigration facilities at the new crossing.

He said with the close co-operation of both sides and the efforts of contractors, cross-boundary passengers will enjoy a convenient and comfortable service.

Shenzhen Municipal People's Government Executive Vice-Mayor Liu Yingli said the crossing will be the first where the co-location arrangement would be implemented and called on all parties to strengthen co-ordination.

The RMB320 million contract covers the superstructure of the Hong Kong passenger terminal building.
