The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a Legionnaires' disease case involving a 92-year-old man who lives in a Western District elderly home.

He developed a fever, shortness of breath, a dull appearance and decreased appetite October 27 and was admitted to Queen Mary Hospital. He was transferred to TWGHs Fung Yiu King Hospital October 31 and is in serious condition.

There have been 35 cases of Legionnaires' disease so far this year. Thirteen were reported last year and 11 in 2007. Click here for prevention tips.
