puzzle toy with unsafe plastic packing

Safety alert: Parents are reminded to beware of potential suffocation hazards posed to children by the plastic packing on toys.

*

The Customs & Excise Department reminds parents to beware of potential suffocation hazards posed to children by the plastic packing on puzzle toys which recently failed safety tests.

Acting on a complaint, officers seized 94 puzzle toys from two retailers and their branches. Notices were issued to the importers and the related retailers barring the supply of these toys.

Parents are advised to properly dispose of the plastic bags of the toy packaging and make sure children do not put the bags on their heads.

To report unsafe toys and children's products call 2545 6182 or write to the department's Consumer Protection Bureau at 11/F North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point.
