2 treated for Legionnaires' disease

Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating two Legionnaires' disease cases involving a 62-year-old Mong Kok man and a 54-year-old Eastern District man. Both have no travel history.

 

The 62-year-old came down with a fever and cough on July 16 and was admitted to Kwong Wah Hospital on July 18. He was discharged on July 27.

 

The 54-year-old developed a fever, chills, cough and myalgia on July 26. He was admitted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital on July 31 and was discharged on August 7.

 

There have been 29 cases of Legionnaires' disease so far this year. Thirteen cases were reported last year and 11 in 2007.
