Elderly man with swine flu dies

Hospital Authority

A 71-year-old man with a history of lung cancer and infected with human swine flu has died at Princess Margaret Hospital.

 

He developed flu symptoms and was admitted September 1. He was confirmed to have human swine flu the same day. He was treated with Tamiflu and antibiotics and put on ventilation support, but his condition deteriorated. He died at 3.50pm today.

 

The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection.
