Alert issued on tainted potato crisps
*
Centre for Food Safety

People should not eat certain batches of Walkers potato crisps due to the possible presence of black rubber pieces in the products.

British authorities have told the Centre for Food Safety the company is recalling Walkers Crisps 21-pack and 28-pack multipacks. On the multipack wrapper there is a best-before date of either September 13 or 20, 2008, with the code GBL 2** 182 ("**" can be any number) and a time code of 02:00 to 06:00.

On individual packets the best-before date is September 20 with similar coding. The individual pack size is 25g in ready salted, cheese and onion, salt and vinegar, prawn cocktail, Worcester sauce and barbecue rib flavours.

The centre has contacted British authorities for more information and informed the trade to stop selling these products.
