Health alert: Consumers are urged not to buy or use Chong Cao Ju Wang which contains undeclared drugs which can cause serious side effects.

The Department of Health has warned people not to buy or use a product named Chong Cao Ju Wang which contains undeclared drugs glibenclamide and sildenafil.

A 69-year-old man was recently found unconscious with low blood sugar after using the product.

Glibenclamide can cause nausea and gastro-intestinal upset. Improper use can cause a significant fall in blood sugar and even death.

Sildenafil is used for treating impotence. It can cause low blood pressure, headaches, vomiting, dizziness, and transient vision disturbances. It can also interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs.

People should not take the products and seek treatmnent if they have.
