Carrie Yau and Thomas Chow kick off the Olympic Live Sites

Olympic fever: Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Carrie Yau (third left) and Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Thomas Chow (second right) announce the Olympic Live Sites.

*

Olympic Live Sites will be formed in Victoria and Sha Tin Parks August 8 to 24 to ensure citizens can catch the latest action and results from the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Carrie Yau said today the sites will broadcast all competition events live via giant video screens. Entertainment and cultural programmes will also be held at the venues to enhance the Olympic atmosphere.

Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Thomas Chow said the sites will be on Victoria Park's central lawn and Sha Tin Park's main plaza, and will include seven activity zones housing games, exhibits, food stalls and other items of interest.

Free tickets will be available at the sites an hour before each session starts.

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department will also launch a cheering campaign with the slogan "Go! Go! China! Go! Go! Hong Kong!"
