Another patient ill with gastroenteritis

*

Another Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital medical ward patient has came down with gastroenteritis, bringing the total number of patients with the complaint to nine since February 6, with five tested positive for Norovirus.

Including today's case - an 81-year-old woman - so far, seven women and two men aged 73 to 94 in the ward were affected. The five patients who contracted Norovirus and the 81-year-old woman are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.

Other patients in the ward are under close surveillance. Admissions have been suspended.

The hospital has restricted visits and discharges from the ward and informed patients' relatives. It has also enhanced the ward's infection-control measures.

It has reported the cases to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
