27 students ill in Tsing Yi flu outbreak
*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating an outbreak of influenza-like illness affecting 27 Tsing Yi primary students who have come down with a fever, cough and sore throat since January 25.

The 14 boys and 13 girls aged seven to 11 have consulted general practitioners or out-patient clinics. None required hospitalisation.

The centre has visited the school and provided health instructions to its staff. It urged people and the management of institutions to take preventive measures against the disease by observing strict environmental and personal hygiene.

Those with respiratory tract infection symptoms, particularly children, old people and those with chronic diseases, should wear face masks and consult doctors promptly. Click here for more information.
