4,900 live pigs available on Friday

*

The estimated number of live pigs imported from the Mainland for Friday is 4,700 and that of local pigs is 200, bringing the total live pig supply to 4,900, the Food & Health Bureau says.

The bureau said announcing the pig-supply number for the following day can boost information flow and market transparency. The public and traders can better understand the overall supply of live pigs.

The Ministry of Commerce agreed at a meeting with the bureau this morning to make daily notifications about the number of live pigs to be supplied a day ahead, to raise transparency and maintain a stable auction price. It also pledged that more than 4,000 live pigs would be transported to Hong Kong each day.
