The Equestrian Company urges those who want to become volunteers in the Beijing 2008 Olympics & Paralympics Equestrian Events to be held in Hong Kong next summer to apply before the December 31 deadline.

Today the company said more than 15,000 have applied so far. It will recruit 1,800 volunteers for the August events and 600 for September's.

About 900 volunteers have already been taken on, and 200 are core volunteers. They are helping to train the others after having themselves been trained by experts like those from Australia with 2000 Sydney Olympics experience.

The company also asked employers of those recruited as volunteers to grant leave to the staff to enable them to help at the Games.
