Gov't backs social enterprise development
*

Social enterprise combines market-driven business organisations with social services for the needy from which the whole community will benefit, Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung says.

Addressing the New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association annual general meeting today, Mr Cheung said the Government has always pledged support to the development of social enterprises. They generate opportunities for businesses and raise their corporate image as role models.

The community can show its recognition and support of the disadvantaged by patronising social enterprises, he said.

"With a stable job, the disadvantaged can regain self-confidence and thus reduce the pressure on their carers which helps foster harmonious family relations," he said.
