The Sir Robert Ho Tung Charitable Fund has allocated $9.27 million to 158 projects covering medical and health, rehabilitation, social welfare, special education, community services and anti-narcotics.

The donation enables about 100 organisations to improve and extend their services to benefit the community.

Some of the major grants include:

* $737,000 for the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals to acquire equipment for the elderly and chronically ill patients, and organise education camps for children with intellectual disability;

* $500,000 for the Samaritan Fund to provide financial assistance to disadvantaged patients to meet medical expenses;

* $460,000 for the Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society to purchase a computed radiography system for its cancer rehabilitation centre;

* $420,000 for the Cheshire Home, Shatin to install a ceiling hoist system in its severely disabled unit and infirmary unit;

* $396,000 for the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong to replace a 5.5-tonne truck for transport of raw materials and finished goods of its three sheltered workshops;

* $380,000 for the Salvation Army to acquire equipment and organise programmes for children and youth;

* $322,000 for Po Leung Kuk to acquire equipment and organise programmes for children with intellectual disability; and

* $300,000 for the Tuen Mun Hospital to purchase an ultrasound machine.
