Poultry rest day set for January 10
*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department reminds retailers and the public that the next poultry rest day is January 10.

Operators of market stalls and fresh provision shops must suspend business in the afternoon and evening for thorough cleaning and disinfection.

All retailers must strictly observe rest-day conditions and ensure all live poultry remaining in their stalls or shops are slaughtered before noon. They must not remove any unsold live poultry from the premises to avoid slaughtering them.

The department will inspect outlets on the day. Failure to comply will lead to cancellation of shop licences or termination of stall tenancies.
