Consumer Council

Consumer and tourist complaints fell 2% last year to 35,962, the Consumer Council says. Council chairman Professor KC Chan said the figures buck the trend of unabated increases since 1999.

The council is undergoing a major management review to plan for the next three years. It plans to be an influential voice for consumers, provide information and educational programmes catering to Hong Kong's economic and demographic changes, enhance consumer understanding of the council's functions, and facilitate integration with the Mainland on consumer protection.
